SUNSET BOULEVARD

For the first time ever, Bratislava Castle became the site of a unique dance event titled Sunset Boulevard, which got the attention of many electronic music and dance enthusiasts. The author of this special project is one of the most famous Slovak DJs - DJ EKG. Hurricane had the honor of being the complex technical supplier of this spectacular outdoor occasion. Since the event took place in the premises of a historical building, high demands on quality and safety level were very important factors to take care of.

To eliminate the reflection from the back wall, we hung a part of the bass speakers on the sound towers, that evenly covered the entire space. The whole sound that we have provided was built on a quality brand Meyer Sound. It was made up of wide range of models like Leopard, X-40, UPQ or LFC-1100.

The party was held in the open in the courtyard of the western terrace of the castle. The client´s request was to create such a light show, so that the dominant part would be the courtyard of the Bratislava castle illuminated in different color than usual. Our goal was also to design a technical solution, that would not disturb the historical character of the premises. The key aspect of the whole event was to reach the highest level of quality in regards to sound. We designed the sound system to minimize unwanted reflections.

All technical equipment was designed so it can withstand bad weather, since heavy rain was predicted. We installed all technology with a high emphasis on safety and stability, so it can withstand storms, that came as predicted. Around 4:15 PM, cloudburst hit the courtyard, but at 4:30 PM the party started without any further complications. DJ EKG invited two DJ frontrunners, that were playing before he came on stage.

Approximately 3000 people came to experience this event, which ended up to be a great success. Sunset Boulevard was not only successful when it comes to the professional eye and ears in regards to technical equipment, but it got a lot of praise for sound and whole design from the public. This event for sure became an unforgettable occasion that showed, that even historic places can come alive with the rhythm of modern music yet still retain their charm and dignity, with the support of our technologies.
